Inauguration of President-elect Dalia Grybauskaitė to be held on July 12, Sunday

Friday, July 10, Vilnius - The inauguration of President-elect Dalia Grybauskaitė will take place on July 12.

Inauguration events will begin with a festive sitting of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania dedicated to the presidential oath taking ceremony. Taking part in the sitting will be the Speaker of the Seimas, Arūnas Valinskas, the Chairman of the Supreme Council (Reconstituent Seimas), Vytautas Landsbergis, the signatories of the Act of Lithuanian Independence, President Algirdas Mykolas Brazauskas, Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius and Cabinet members, the President of the Constitutional Court of Lithuania, Kęstutis Lapinskas, Justices of the Constitutional Court, Presidents of the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Administrative Court, Members of the European Parliament, foreign diplomats, Members of the European Commission, hierarchs of the Lithuanian Catholic Church, heads of institutions under the auspices of the Seimas, governors of counties, rectors of higher educational establishments, and other honorable guests.

After the oath taking ceremony, Holy Mass will be celebrated in Vilnius Cathedral.

Later on, a military parade will be held in Cathedral Square in honor of President Dalia Grybauskaitė. The commanders of the Lithuanian Armed Forces will be officially presented to the President of Lithuania, who will be honored with Lithuanian military flags and by army servicemen. Taking part in the ceremony, together with the residents and guests of Vilnius will be the leaders and members of the Seimas and Government, President of the Constitutional Court, diplomatic corps, heads of state institutions, Governor of Vilnius County, and leaders of Vilnius Municipality.

The transfer ceremony of the Presidential Palace will be held in Simono Daukanto Square. During the ceremony, the flag of President Valdas Adamkus will replaced by the flag of President Dalia Grybauskaitė. The President will be honored with the flags of Lithuanian cities and towns.

In the evening, a gala concert will be staged in Daukanto Square. Entrance to the concert will be free of charge and the participating singers and musicians will perform without pay.
