Press ReleasesValdas Adamkus congratulated Italy’s President on national holidayTuesday, June 2, Vilnius - President Valdas Adamkus congratulated President Giorgio Napolitano of Italy on the occasion of Republic Day, extending best wishes for his personal well-being and for the prosperity of the people of his country.
"Italy - a founder of NATO and the European Union - has always been an active promoter of Euro-Atlantic values with a strong sense of leadership. I am confident that our two countries will streamline their rich and diverse experience to support EU solidarity and strengthen its responsibility in the face of modern global challenges," Mr. Adamkus wrote in his message of congratulations.
President Adamkus underlined that the centuries long historical and cultural contacts between Lithuania and Italy, their shared values and interests helped the two countries build over the past 18 years a strong foundation for bilateral relations. He further noted that successful cooperation in the fields of economy, defense and culture demonstrated their mutual interests and reciprocal trust.
"I am convinced that we will strengthen our bilateral relationship by exchanging high-level visits in the near future and by launching new initiatives that will bring our people, business communities and politicians even closer together," Mr. Adamkus wrote. Press Service of the President |
