The Lithuanian and Latvian Presidents discussed the upcoming election to the post of UNESCO Director General and the progress of the election campaign for the joint Baltic candidate, Ina Marčiulionytė.
"UNESCO has made a significant contribution to cherishing and protecting tangible and intangible cultural property and heritage not only of Lithuania but also of other Baltic countries. I have no doubt the Baltic candidate, who is a highly-experienced professional and diplomat, will not only work actively to implement UNESCO's global goals but also come up with ideas for enhancing the role of this Organisation in all continents of the world," President Adamkus said.
