President congratulated Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom

Friday, June 12, Vilnius - President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus sent congratulations to Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on her official birthday.

"I am confident that based on centuries long traditions of cooperation between our two nations and with your support we will connect our two countries by even stronger bridges of friendship, mutual understanding and assistance," the President writes in his letter of congratulations.

In the letter, the President expresses his firm belief that the United Kingdom and Lithuania will continue working together towards building an open, competitive and unified Europe based on common values, a Europe capable of responding effectively to the global challenges of today and ensuring the well-being of the generations of tomorrow.

The Queen's real birthday is on 21 April but it is officially celebrated in June.
