President Adamkus and President Vaclav Klaus of the Czech Republic talked over phone about the last week’s EU-Russian Summit

Friday, May 29, Vilnius - President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus had a telephone conversation with Vaclav Klaus, President of the Czech Republic currently holding Presidency of the EU.

The Czech leader called Lithuania's President to inform him about the outcome of the EU-Russian Summit that took place in Khabarovsk last week.

The leader of the EU Presidency, President Vaclav Klaus shared his impressions of the discussions held in the Summit on such issues as energy challenges, Eastern Neighbourhood Policy, and prospects of further relations with Russia.

The Czech leader expressed regret that the media have incorrectly conveyed his words about Lithuania. President Klaus assured President Adamkus of the importance of Lithuania as a close partner of the Czech Republic.
