President Adamkus and President-Elect Dalia Grybauskaitė discussed the course of taking-over office and duties

Friday, May 29, Vilnius - President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus received President-Elect Dalia Grybauskaitė.

The two Presidents talked about situation in Lithuania, socio-economic issues, foreign policy. Also, procedures of passing over the office to the new President were discussed.

"We had a really warm conversation. Both I and the new President see very clearly the path to be followed. I think we will still have a lot of opportunities before the inauguration to discuss any problems that might emerge," President Adamkus said after the meeting.

The President-Elect said she was ready to review the structure of the Office of the President to see where public funds could be saved.

"I will spend this month and a half period to prepare myself for performing swiftly and efficiently the duties that I will take up from 12 July," Dalia Grybauskaitė said.

Today President Adamkus signed a decree whereby the President-Elect's Inaugural Commission was formed.
